- White t-shirt
- Black trousers or shorts
- A jumper
- Waterproof jacket
- Suitable trainers
As our PE slots can either be indoor or outdoor, your child will be required to bring suitable outdoor clothing and footwear.
From April 2024 - July 2024, our Wednesday PE slot will be our swimming session. Please send your child with a swimming costume/swimming shorts and swimming hat.
Times Tables Check
By the end of year 4, children are expected to know all the times tables up to 12 x 12. This will be completed through quick warm ups at the beginning of our Maths lessons, quickfire questions throughout the day and during our Maths fluency sessions.
In year 4, the government requires all children to complete a Times Tables test online. This will happen in June 2024 for our current Year 4 children. At Flanderwell, we aim to provide as much support, teaching and guidance as we can to help make our pupils feel confident in their times tables, this is why we have given each child a login for both Reflex Maths and TT Rockstars, where fun interactive times tables games are accessible for children to learn their multiplication tables in the comfort of their homes and allow them to share their knowledge with friends when battling against each other on TT Rockstars.
Reflex Maths
Your child was issued a login for Reflex Maths in Year 3. All of the data and progress that your child gained from this has been stored and will continue as they move in to year 4. As a school, we ask that your child completes the activities on this program 3 times a week, for 15mins (until the little blue light in the right corner turns green). The data from this program will allow me to see areas I need to focus on in class to ensure that your child receives the personalised learning that they need. Please contact me if you require their login details again.
Please continue to encourage your child to complete their Reflex Maths times tables check at home. Once your child has achieved 100% on their Reflex Maths, they can continue to use TT Rockstars (below).
TT Rockstars is a great way for your child to learn their times tables in a fun way, battling it out with others, beating their previous times and making their way to becoming an ultimate Rock Legend.
Homework
Homework will be sent out on a Friday and will be expected to be completed and returned by the following Wednesday. If your child struggles with their tasks, we encourage them to seek our help on either of the days before their homework is due; alternatively, please do not hesitate to contact us via a note with your child or a Class Dojo message.
Along with home reads, weekly times tables assessments will take place; therefore, children are expected to practise their times tables weekly, whether that be online through Reflex Maths or TT Rockstars or even using paper and pen.
By the time children reach Year 6, they are expected to be able to rapidly recall all of the times tables. Here at Flanderwell we teach them in phases (see the list below):
By the end of Year 2, most children are expected to know the 2x, 5x and 10x tables.
By the end of Year 3, most children are expected to know the 3x, 4x and 8x tables.
By the end of Year 4, most children are expected to know the 6x, 7x, 9x, 11x and 12x tables.
Spellings
Spellings that we want the children to learn will be sent home via Class Dojo every Monday. Please practise these with your child to help them make wonderful progress and succeed in their learning.
Medium-term Plan
Please click below to see the medium-term plan for this term in Year 4. For a breakdown of the learning in the subjects not included in the medium term plan, please see the individual curriculum pages.
Thank you for your cooperation. I know that your children can and will achieve their very best at Flanderwell and we will be here every step of the way to support them in their learning journey. Please do not hesitate to talk to us on the gate or via Class Dojo if you have any questions or queries.
