Fabulous Frogs

Welcome to Foundation 2 and the FABULOUS FROGS

Meet the team:

Mrs Dilley, Mrs Otter and Mrs Cooke

Our school day

The school gate on the lower playground opens at 8:35am. Parents/carers can walk their child to the classroom doors which will open at 8:40am.

Please ensure book bags are brought to school every day.
Our book change and home book read count day is on a Monday
Homework needs to be returned on a Wednesday
New homework is sent out on a Friday
All children will have a plastic zip wallet inside their book bag to keep their homework in. Please ensure this wallet stays inside the book bag. The zip wallet will also contain other activities for children to practise at home such as name writing and letter formation.

Reading regularly will develop a love of books and your child’s skills as a reader.  We recommend reading at least three times each week.  Each day you indicate in their diary that your child has read, this means they race along our Reading Racetrack. Three or more reads per week earns a Dojo Point. Every read your child does will count towards their own reading race track. Every child has a superhero on the racing reading track. Their aim is to reach 250+ reads, which is the Governors’ Award by the end of the school year. 50 reads will earn them a Bronze Award, 100 reads will earn them a Silver Award and 200 reads will earn them a Gold Award.

Our PE day is a Wednesday
Children should arrive at school in their school uniform and bring sensible clothes and footwear for exercising to change into. Please ensure all items are labelled with your child’s name. Children will change back into their uniform after their PE lesson.

Every child is given a piece of fruit and a carton of milk at snack time (10.30am). Children are welcome to bring their own healthy snack as well. Examples of healthy snacks are fresh fruit/vegetables, dried fruit, breadsticks, cheese, yogurt, cereal bar. No chocolate or crisps please.

Messages sent to teachers on class dojo should only be non-urgent. Any urgent messages should be telephoned to the school office.
Ensure we have up to date contact details for each family member so we can keep in touch, contact someone in an emergency and share important messages via school text. Please contact the school office to share any changes.

Children should bring a water bottle to school everyday. There are water dispensers in school to refill them if necessary.

Class Themes and Topics
In Foundation Stage, all learners experience a broad, balanced and varied curriculum, which is relevant to their stage of development. Thoughtfully planned, child-centered topics change from half term to half term, and are used as a vehicle to teach the whole EYFS curriculum. This year, our topics include:

Autumn 1 – Marvelous Me

Autumn 2 – Farms and Celebrations

Spring 1 –  Dinosaur, ROAR!

Spring 2 – Down in the Jungle

Summer 1 – Growing and Minibeasts

Summer 2 – ‘Are we nearly there yet?’
