Spring Term
This term our topic will be based around The Victorians. Children will be carrying out cross curricular learning through this topic and will have opportunities to produce some fantastic writing based on this. To help the children develop a good knowledge and understanding of this topic, we will be researching Queen Victoria and significent events that occured during this era. We will investigate how these events may have shaped life as we know it today. Children will also experience what life was like in Victorian schools by taking part in a fantastic, real life Victorian classroom day.
Class Trips
Autumn Term 2
The children had a fantastic day learning about a variety of animals when we had Meet a Creature visit school. Finding out lots of information about the different animals helped the children with their learning. Many children overcome their fears and stroked or held the creatures. Snakes, lizards, insects and many other creatures were drawn, described and cuddled by the children.
Autumn Term 1
Gainsborough Old Hall
In this half term, Year 6 visited Gainsborough Old Hall to get a feel of what Tudor life was like. The children had to dress up in different outfits to take the role of a certain member of the household. We had King Henry VIII, jesters, dancers, servants, guards and many more characters. Being able to walk around the house and see the different rooms and what people may have had to do in there was really interesting.
Crucial Crew
Year 6 visited Crucial Crew this half term. The children acted out scenarios of different issues regarding safety. The scenarios were focused on many different areas: House Fire, Stranger Danger, Internet Safety, Road Safety, Vandalism and Criminal Offences. The children really enjoyed the day and learned many valuable lessons.
