Homework
Homework is regularly sent out every Friday to be handed in the following Wednesday
. If for any reason your child needs support regarding the homework, please do not hesitate to ask myself, Mr Modest or Mrs Russell in person or via Dojo.
If homework is handed in on time they will get to choose a homework monster which means they have chance to win a little treat 🙂
Spellings
There is a list of common exception words that are ‘Nationally’ expected to be learnt throughout Year 2. We are sending this list home for your information and recommend practicing reading and spelling a few each week, at your child’s own pace. As well as these, we are ensuring all children can fluently and confidently spell the top 100 and 200 High Frequency Words.
Reading
In Year 2 , we want to create a love of reading and children who are motivated to read because they choose books which they are interested in.
The more times your child reads at home, the further they will proceed along the reading race track. They also earn certificates for the amount of times they read.
Bronze award- 50 times
Silver award- 100 times
Gold award – 200 times
Governor’s award- 250 times
Our school target is for your child to read at least three times a week at home.
PE
Our PE days are Wednesday and Friday please ensure your child comes to school in their full PE kit including, a white t-shirt and black long tracksuit bottoms and trainers/pumps on both days. As the weather can still be quite cool and may be outside, please ensure children bring warmer clothes to wear for example, a hooded top. Long hair must be tied back and earrings need to be taken out prior to the session. For newly pierced ears, plasters or micro pore tape must be provided from home.
