WEEK COMMENCING 11TH JANUARY:
WHOLE SCHOOL LETTER – COVID CASE 15TH JANUARY 2021
THURSDAY 14TH JANUARY – IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR PARENTS
Good evening,
I hope you are all safe and well.
Thank you for your patience and understanding this morning. Closing school due to adverse weather conditions is never an easy decision to make at the best of times. In most localities, rain was the only downfall until 7.30a.m. The swift build up of snow and the forecast for more throughout the day forced the decision to close.
Conditions on the roads, as many of you will have experienced, were pretty treacherous by the end of the afternoon.
We know you will all need to make plans for tomorrow (FRIDAY 15TH JANUARY) following the school closure today. Currently, our decision is to close tomorrow to key workers and other groups attending as the roads continue to be treacherous and the weather forecast predicts freezing fog and ice overnight. Many of our staff travel from outside the local area and we will struggle to run provision safely in class bubbles, with reduced staffing capacity.
If overnight there is a miracle and the snow melts, we will, of course, reverse our decision and we will text you to let you know this, early in the morning.
Learning continues for all pupils online, as usual, tomorrow. Please check ClassDojo for updates from teachers.
Thank you
Mrs Armitage

Dear parents and carers,
I can’t quite believe it’s nearly a week since pupils returned. I am really proud of the way your children have adapted to the new systems and procedures – they are a real credit to you.
Entry into school is going really well with children joining their class lines swiftly and confidently.
We have had to tweak a few things to ensure end of day release is smooth – especially at the lower playground exits. However, on the whole, this is going well and we thank you for following the procedures of waiting in class lines until staff call your children.
Children will leave classrooms at 3p.m and will join the appropriate playgrounds.
The areas for waiting, especially at the lower playground, do not allow for much distancing among adults. As you wait for your children alongside other adults and staff, we therefore request that you wear a face mask/covering.
Parent welcome meetings.
Every teacher will invite parents to an online meeting to share information about class routines and learning expectations for this term.
All meetings will take place via video conferencing (invites to follow) in the next two weeks. Foundation Stage1 meetings will take place once all new pupils are settled into school. Miss Downes will send invitations at a later date. If you aren’t able to join a meeting, the associated resources and information will be shared on ClassDojo pages.
Thank you for your continued support.
Kindest regards
Julie Armitage
