April 24th – Update from Mrs Armitage

Dear parents and carers,

I hope you are well and have had a good week! I can’t believe we are on Friday already.

Thank you so much for joining up with ClassDojo and continuing to update us through the portfolio entries. I hope you have found the progress discussions and feedback from teachers informative and helpful – I know some of you have planned to speak with teachers next week.

Here is a quick update about what you should now be able to access…

Website:

All classes will continue to provide a series of daily learning opportunities. These will be uploaded by Monday morning, every week.

We are conscious that printing out will be difficult so the tasks provided are a mix of online and paper-based options.

Links to a range of other activities posted before Easter, are still there for use should you wish to use them.

You can find the learning for each class by accessing the class pages on the website, as follows.

Learning packs – paper copies of some of the work that is set for the week on the website.

These are available upon request from class teachers, though there should be limited need for most, as the work set should be possible by children using paper and pens and using the site to copy questions etc. in most cases. This should be the process, please, where possible.

Teachers will copy any new requested packs once during the week, ready for collection on Fridays (not the Bank Holiday).

We will place all requested learning packs under the shelter outside the main reception for collection on Fridays. There will be a box of exercise books, paper and writing tools available for anyone who needs these resources, too.

Online programmes:

Active Learn, Reflex Maths, TT Rockstars – these are all still accessible for use.

ClassDojo:

Teachers are thoroughly enjoying the catch-up and have been delighted that they have managed to speak with some of their pupils. While they will continue to keep an eye on the posts and messages on ClassDojo, this will not form the bulk of what they will be doing.

Aside from carrying out the remaining progress conversations that are still to be had, teachers will now be concentrating on creating their annual pupil records of achievement for all pupils as well as planning and working on curriculum development. They will also be working in school on the key worker rota. While we are really happy for you to send in photos of the work that your child has been doing, it may not always be possible for teachers to make comments on everything they receive, especially if they receive several per child, per day. Please do not worry if you don’t get a reply on the same day – teachers will look over all the posts and comment on the range, where possible, as soon as they can. Some of our teaching assistants may be joining as co-teachers to the class, so they will be able to like and comment on the portfolios too!

Teachers will continue to send and respond to messages during the week.
