Our PE session will be on Monday afternoons.
This term we are focusing on cross-country, football and hockey .

We will be having the majority of PE sessions outside so please bring kit for all weather and PE trainers.  It is really important that you bring a change of clothes and footwear for PE.  If you do not bring kit, some will be provided.

Homework
Our homework is sent out on a Friday and should be returned by Wednesday.

Hand your homework in on time and have a chance to play Homework Snakes and Ladders.  There are prizes to be won.

Make sure you are learning all of your times tables at home so that you can collect your bronze, silver and gold badges! In Year 6, children are expected to know all of their times tables and corresponding division facts for up to 12×12.

Reading
Please try to read with your child at home at least 3 times a week.

Reading diaries will be checked every day.
Make sure you fill in your reading diary so you can hop along the spots to the top. There are chances to earn certificates and prizes as you hop along.

Autumn Term 2

This term our topic will be based around Deadly 60. Children will be carrying out cross curricular learning through this topic and will have opportunities to produce some fantastic writing based on this. To help the children develop a good knowledge and understanding of this topic, we will be having a Meet a Creature session to discover different types of animals and creatures and to be able to handle them with care.  We will investigate how these animals live and eat and look at the impact of deforestation.

Class Trips

Autumn Term 1

Gainsborough Old Hall

In this half term, Year 6 visit Gainsborough Old Hall to get a feel of what Tudor life was like.  The children had to dress up in different outfits to take the role of a certain member of the household.  We had King Henry VIII, jesters, dancers, servants, guards and many more characters.  Being able to walk around the house and see the different rooms and what people may have had to do in there was really interesting.

Crucial Crew

Year 6 visited Crucial Crew this half term.  The children acted out scenarios of different issues regarding safety.  The scenarios were focused on many different areas:  House Fire, Stranger Danger, Internet Safety, Road Safety, Vandalism and Criminal Offences.  The children really enjoyed the day and learned many valuable lessons.
